What I'd like to see them say...

The Republican party - We're sorry we have deliberately engaged in a decades-long anti-science, anti-intellectual, anti-truth, anti-democracy campaign which has caused America to lose its status as a world leader, making us into a fascist Third World country. We're also sorry for using 9/11 ads, homosexuals, fake patriotism, taxes, etc to scare you into voting for us. Terrorism is defined on Wikipedia as the "systematic use of terror, especially as a means of coercion".

Brain Test

Gaze at the figure as she dances and ask yourself:

"Is she dancing clockwise or counter-clockwise?"

The answer lies not on the screen but in your brain.

<!--more-->

If you see her spinning clockwise, you are thinking with the right side of your brain.

Those of you using your left side will see her spinning counter-clockwise.

Concentrate on the spinning long enough and you may develop strabismus.

Or you may see her switch directions, demonstrating an ability shift the electrical currents in your cerebellum and thereby utilize both sides of your brain.

Stay tuned on Nature

Nature is one of the major scientific journals. Not only is this a very nice scientific magazine, but they also feature free weekly podcasts on what is going on in science. Each episode is approximately half an hour and feature several stories together with interviews from researchers. I especially like the 'podium speaker' where a researcher is given the microphone and get the opportunity to talk about what they want.

My Teachers...

I have just started a new year in school. I have made a few new friends, tightened bonds with my old ones, and I am starting to see a whole new perspective of school. For starters, this year is a whole lot different than last year becuse of the homework train is making an extreme amount of stops at BigWorldSmallFeet! Please do not stop reading, even if I don't post for a day or week!!

I love mt teachers! My Language and Literature teacher is extremely strict, but fair and loves to have an occasional laugh, as long as we get the work done. On Friday, when we had read a book called My Great-Aunt Arizona (which by the way, I am gonna do a review on) and got the work done, she started to play the song "Dont Stop Believing" by Journey. A boy in my class started dancing and I thought, we have to be the funniest homeroom ever!

Eight-Legged Space Survivor Gives 'Panspermia' New Life

The revelation last week that tiny eight-legged animals survived exposure to the harsh environment of space on an Earth-orbiting mission is further support for the idea that simple life forms could travel between planets.

This idea, called panspermia, is not new. It holds that the seeds of life are everywhere, and that microbial life on Earth could have traveled here from Mars or even from another star system, and then evolved into the plethora of species seen today. In essence, we may all be Martians.

The Coarsely-Tuned Universe

Eric Kemp (he of the rather poorly named 'Intelligent Science' blog) has posted a foundational description of the fine-tuning argument for the existence of God. If you don't know what that is, read Eric's explanation, because it covers all of the basic points nicely.

Rather than reply directly to that, I'd like to point out what I believe is wrong with most atheistic replies to the fine-tuning argument before suggesting a slightly different way of looking at the supposedly ideal Universe that we live in.

Scientific theory on God’s existence

I've spent a lot of time thinking about and researching this...

In Science time is one of those things by which everything else is based.  That's what I'm going to focus on in the particular installment.

Science tells us that the universe was created approximately 13.5 billion years ago (in earth time) based on their calculations of the oldest known universal object.

I would like to introduce the mathematical concept of infinity.  Infinity is not so much a number but a representation of numbers unfathomable.  What's an unfathomable number, well something like 47 ventillion (47,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000)
Yes, that is 63 zero's!

The Scientific Proof of Intelligent Design

Did you not here! There is now very convincing proof that God created the universe! And, what it more this is proven in thousands of laboratories across the world!

Think about it. When is there more scientific discovery in a laboratory, while the scientists are there or when they are at home asleep in their beds? Of course, the answer is while the supposedly intelligent scientists are in their laboratories. So, every night in many thousands of laboratories across the world the theory of <!--more-->intelligent design is proven scientifically over and over conclusively. Without the scientists (intelligence), nothing is discovered! Well, not really nothing. But, only those processes that were set up for study by the intelligent scientists in the day produce fruitful scientific discovery. Much much less is discovered by mere accident. And even then, it is the intelligent scientist that interprets it and makes it useful for the advance of science.

Kakapo: waste of time and money

An utter waste of time and conservation funding (see following post from ScienceAlert)?

How Big is the Universe? REAL big.

Look at all the points of light in this picuture. Look close. Those are galaxies. 10,000 of them.

Each of those galaxies contains anywhere from ten million to one trillion stars, like our average-to-small- sized sun.

The average star is roughly a million times the size of Earth.

The photo covers one thirteen-millionth of the entire night sky.

This is what we call the "Observable Universe."

Scientists say the “actual” universe is so large that if the "observable universe" described were the size of a quarter, the actual universe would be the size of the Earth.

Humbling, isn't it?

XOXO
