NASA is no longer able to recieve data from the Hubble space telescope. Astronauts are currently unable to fix the problem, since it was never considered and they were never trained for it. This means that NASA is now unable to publish some of the stunning images that the telescope was known for. Although there is a backup channel, NASA doesn't want to rely solely on that because then there is nothing in case of another malfunction. It would take time to test and qualify the old replacement part and train the astronauts to install it in the telescope, said NASA spokesman Michael Curie. NASA also would have to work out new mission details for the astronauts who have trained for two years to carry out five Hubble repair spacewalks. There will only be one more servicing mission to the telescope. |

I recently criticised some creationists for misrepresenting scientific knowledge and lying about evolutionary science to children (see “Biblically correct” child abuse?). This upset a few commenters. I know people have all sorts of issues over the term "child abuse" but found one of the commenters justifications disconcerting. Referring to teaching 6 day creationism to children he says: "Let’s say that I taught my children a lie. But that lie gave them hope and joy and purpose to their dying day. What have I done wrong?" Now, I think there are several issues here: |

These are the common Highschool Science classes used. You can look through these links, I'm sure we'll add more through out the year. I have found that it's simple to take from the 'older' child's course work and use the same information to teach the younger ones just at their appropriate grade level. Where one child might write an essay, another can just as easily draw a picture of that days reading. Science projects at home can be fun and adventurous. This year we will begin Nature Study Books. I hope to add more info on those later too. Highschool Science: http://www.oldfashionededucation.com/science.htm |

Waste Not, Want Not: A New Approach to Solar - Green Inc. Blog - NYTimes.com If there is a way to improve the efficiency of the solar panels then we can harness the full potential of sun's rays. Efficiency is increased by ridding the panels off the heat that it generates due to exposure. Vinod Khosla, founder of Sun Microsystems is venturing into trying to build the panel that would be 2 times or even 3 times efficient to the ones currently available. It would be a big breakthrough in renewable energy. |

(WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.) — A multibillion-dollar effort to restore Florida's Everglades has made little progress amid funding shortfalls, bureaucratic red tape and disagreements, according to a congressionally mandated report that warns the vast wetland is in peril.
